Nissan launches third‑generation e‑POWER hybrid system in Europe

Nissan has unveiled the third generation of its e‑POWER system, a hybrid architecture in which a gasoline engine functions solely as a generator while an electric motor drives the wheels. The new version features a larger turbocharger, a longer piston stroke, and delivers 330 Nm of torque and 205 hp in Sport mode. Aerodynamic refinements and lighter componentry reduce fuel consumption from 116 g/km to 102 g/km (about 4.4 L/100 km) in the Qashqai model, according to ADAC testing.

The launch marks the first worldwide introduction of the updated e‑POWER outside Japan, targeting European models such as the Qashqai and X‑Trail, which already account for a sizable share of Nissan’s sales in the region (33 % of Qashqai and over 65 % of X‑Trail sales). The technology, first released in Japan in 2016, continues to evolve with this more efficient generation.
