Nissan names Ricardo Gondo president of its Brazil operation

Nissan announced that Ricardo Yuji Gondo will take over as president and chief executive of Nissan Brazil effective 3 August, succeeding Argentine‑born Gonzalo Ibarzábal, who is returning to Argentina after a 12‑year tenure. Gondo brings more than three decades of automotive experience, most of it at Renault where he held senior roles in Brazil, Spain, Portugal and France, and later helped forge Renault’s partnership with Geely.

His appointment comes as Nissan finalises a portfolio refresh of its locally built SUVs – the Kicks and the newly introduced Kait – produced at the Resende plant in Rio de Janeiro. Nissan aims to build on this product renewal to expand its market share in Brazil and across Latin America, aligning the move with the broader Renault‑Nissan‑Mitsubishi alliance strategy.
