Nissan Oceania MD forecasts growth following 2026 market low

Steve Milette, the new managing director of Nissan Oceania, anticipates that 2026 will be the brand's low point in the Australian market before a projected return to growth driven by new product introductions.

Nissan has experienced a decline in market share, dropping from a high of 7.2% in 2012 to 2.9% recently. To combat this, the company plans to expand its local lineup with e-Power hybrid variants of the X-Trail and a refreshed Nissan Z. Deliveries of the Y63 Patrol off-road SUV are expected to begin in the first quarter of 2027.

The company is also exploring several models developed through a joint venture with Chinese automaker Dongfeng, including the Frontier Pro plug-in hybrid and potentially the NX8 crossover, which could arrive by late 2027.
