Nissan pivots to hybrid strategy for North American market
Nissan is launching an ambitious new strategy to expand its electrified vehicle presence in North America and Latin America by 2030. After previously focusing on fully electric models like the Leaf, the manufacturer is now pivoting to address the growing demand for hybrid technology, where it has lagged behind competitors Toyota and Honda.
The offensive will center on the introduction of the e-POWER hybrid family and new range-extender models. Nissan's plan also includes the development of a new V6 engine intended for future SUVs and pickup trucks to help regain market share in regions where hybrid models have already become dominant.
