Nissan replaces Frontier pickup in Brazil with new hybrid model

Nissan has ended the commercial cycle of the current generation of its Frontier mid-size pickup truck in the Brazilian market. This decision follows a significant decline in sales, with registrations dropping 45% from 9,258 units in 2024 to 5,091 units in 2025.

The current model's availability was already impacted by the cessation of regional production in Argentina in 2025, which led to a temporary supply shift from Mexico.

To replace the outgoing model, Nissan is preparing to launch the Frontier Pro, a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) developed through a partnership with the Chinese manufacturer Dongfeng. Based on the Dongfeng Z9 project, the new model features a 1.5-liter turbo gasoline engine paired with an electric system, delivering over 429 cv and approximately 81.6 kgfm of torque. The vehicle offers an electric-only range of up to 135 kilometers and includes advanced technology such as a 14.6-inch multimedia center and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capabilities.
