Nissan sales dip in July as Mexican auto market expands

Nissan reported a 0.7% year‑on‑year decline in July 2026, selling 23,454 vehicles compared with 23,614 in the same month of the previous year. The drop occurred despite the overall Mexican automotive market growing 3.39% to 130,835 units, and Nissan remains the top‑selling brand in the country.

Separately, the Mexican automotive sector faces uncertainty after the Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE) and the Secretaría de Hacienda y Crédito Público (SHCP) declared their vehicle‑procurement contests deserted, cancelling contracts for up to 36,000 vehicles. The cancellations affect manufacturers, distributors and suppliers, prompting the Asociación Mexicana de la Industria Automotriz (AMIA) and the Asociación Mexicana de Distribuidores de Automotores (AMDA) to monitor the impact on industry competitiveness and demand.
