Nissan to invest £170m in UK production of Kicks crossover

Nissan has announced plans to launch the Kicks, a compact B-segment crossover, in the European market. The company will invest £170 million to manufacture the model at its plant in Sunderland, UK.

The Kicks will utilize Nissan’s third-generation e-POWER hybrid technology. This system uses an internal combustion engine solely to generate electricity to power an electric motor that drives the wheels, providing an electric-like driving experience without the need for external charging.

This production decision follows the recent announcement of a new A-segment small electric car, the PIXO. The Kicks joins the existing lineup of models produced in Sunderland, which includes the Qashqai, Juke, and LEAF. While specific details regarding European pricing, performance, and exact market launch dates have not yet been disclosed, the model has already surpassed 1.8 million units sold globally in over 70 markets.
