Nissan launches Frontier Pro PHEV pickup in Mexico and global markets

Nissan has announced the global expansion of its electrified pickup lineup, starting with the debut of the Frontier Pro PHEV in Mexico. Developed and produced in China through the Zhengzhou Nissan joint venture with Dongfeng, the vehicle marks a strategic shift in using Chinese manufacturing for global exports.

The Mexican version of the Frontier Pro PHEV features a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine paired with an electric motor, delivering approximately 350 horsepower and a combined driving range of nearly 1,000 kilometers. It includes 4x4 capabilities, a 20-kWh battery, and a towing capacity of up to 3,500 kg.

In other markets, the vehicle will be branded as the Navara Pro. For Australia and New Zealand, Nissan plans a 2027 launch featuring a more powerful 2.0-liter turbocharged engine producing 300 kW and 800 Nm of torque, specifically tuned for the Oceania region. Other planned markets for the electrified pickup include the Philippines, the Middle East, and various Latin American countries.
