Nissim de Camondo Museum burglary attempt in Paris

A man has been taken into custody following an attempted burglary at the Nissim de Camondo Museum in Paris on Saturday night. According to the Paris Prosecutor's Office, the suspect entered the premises through the rear gardens and broke a window to gain access.

No artwork appears to have been stolen during the incident. The museum, which houses a significant collection of 18th-century art, is currently closed for renovations and is scheduled to reopen in 2030. An investigation into attempted theft by breaking and entering is being conducted by the police in the 8th arrondissement.

This incident follows a series of security challenges for French museums, including a high-profile break-in at the Louvre in October 2025 and a major theft at the Lalique Museum in Wingen-sur-Moder earlier this July, where jewelry valued at over 4.5 million euros was stolen.
