NIT Rourkela announces scholarship targets and cleanliness drive

The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela has announced plans to provide scholarships to approximately 2,000 students during the 2026-27 academic year. This initiative aims to support meritorious students from economically weaker backgrounds, including SC, ST, OBC, female, and other disadvantaged groups. To achieve this, the institute is collaborating with various government and private agencies, with proposed MoUs involving organizations such as the Adani Group and Groww.

Financial assistance has seen a steady increase at the institute, growing from 857 beneficiaries in 2022-23 to 1,670 in 2025-26. These funds typically cover tuition, hostel charges, and other academic expenses.

In a separate community initiative, NIT Rourkela participated in the nationwide Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 campaign. Students, faculty, and staff conducted a cleanliness drive at a waste-prone area near the campus, removing accumulated garbage and transporting it to an authorized disposal site to promote environmental responsibility.
