NITDA calls for increased investment in Nigeria’s data centres
The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) is calling for increased investment in Nigeria’s data centre infrastructure to support the country’s growing digital economy. During the ITW Data Cloud Africa 2026 conference, NITDA Director-General Kashifu Inuwa emphasized that rising demand for computing, storage, and connectivity capacity necessitates robust infrastructure for cloud computing and artificial intelligence.
Inuwa highlighted the need for clear government policies and regulatory certainty to attract sustainable investment. He stated that the government’s role should involve creating a stable framework and secure digital ecosystems that provide investors with the confidence to commit capital. According to Inuwa, regulatory clarity regarding how infrastructure is deployed, governed, and consumed is essential for operators to build with confidence.
