NITDA urges Nigerian Army to adopt AI and strategic data management

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has advised the Nigerian Army to transition from basic data record-keeping to using data as a strategic tool for intelligence and operational planning. During a seminar in Abuja, NITDA Director General Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi emphasized that converting data into actionable insight is essential for modern military advantage. He specifically urged the military to adopt Artificial Intelligence to enhance the speed and accuracy of decision-making on the battlefield.

In a related development regarding Nigeria’s digital landscape, NITDA, the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC), and Galaxy Backbone have partnered to support the CyFrica 2026 cybersecurity summit in Lagos. The event aims to address growing cyber resilience and data protection needs as Nigeria’s digital economy continues to expand. This comes amid reports of increased cyber exposure, with data indicating significant account leaks in the country.
