NITDA wins two IPRA Golden World Awards for AI crisis management

Nigeria’s National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has received two 2026 International Public Relations Association (IPRA) Golden World Awards in Athens, Greece. In collaboration with Image Merchants Promotion Limited (IMPR) and the Centre for Crisis Communication (CCC), the agency was recognized in the Artificial Intelligence in Crisis Management and Publication categories.

The awards celebrate the development of the Crisis Communication Hub (CCHub), a national framework built on empirical research regarding artificial intelligence and crisis management. The initiative utilizes AI tools for proactive social listening and to strengthen crisis communication by detecting misinformation, deepfakes, and other digital threats to public trust.

Beyond threat detection, the CCHub aims to improve coordination among stakeholders during communication emergencies through a structured response approach. The awards were accepted by Hadiza Umar, representing NITDA, and Professor Yau Sule of IMPR.
