Niterói hosts music festival and deaf culture events

Niterói is hosting several cultural initiatives focused on artistic diversity and accessibility. The 2nd edition of the Mar de Música Song Festival has opened free registrations for solo artists and bands until October 11, 2026. The festival aims to promote independent music and offers cash prizes, with extra points awarded to women, Black and Indigenous people, and Niterói residents to encourage representation.

Additionally, the Cultura Surda project is being held at Campo de São Bento in Icaraí. Promoted by the Municipal Secretariat of Cultures, the event features free programming including Libras poetry, contemporary dance, literature, and a cultural fair with deaf artists and entrepreneurs. The initiative seeks to integrate accessibility into permanent public policy, ensuring deaf individuals participate as protagonists in the city's cultural life.
