Niterói inaugurates Charitas bicycle parking with 400 spaces
The Niterói City Hall has inaugurated a new public bicycle parking facility in Charitas, located adjacent to the Catamaran Station. The facility offers 400 free parking spaces and is designed to integrate cycling with the city's waterborne transport system.
Mayor Rodrigo Neves stated that the project follows the concept used for the Arariboia bicycle parking and was developed in coordination with the State Secretariat of Transport. The initiative aims to provide safer commuting alternatives for residents and workers in the South Zone and Oceanic Region, potentially reducing vehicle traffic and carbon emissions during peak hours.
Vice-Mayor and Secretary of Climate and Sustainability Isabel Swan noted that the infrastructure includes amenities such as water fountains to support a culture of cycling and sustainable urban mobility.
