Niterói releases early funds for 2027 Carnival preparations

The city of Niterói has launched an unprecedented early planning phase for the 2027 Carnival. To support the samba schools, the municipal government will release 80% of the allocated subvention funds by Friday, with the remaining 20% scheduled for payment in November.

This initiative aims to provide local associations with approximately 120 days of additional preparation time. The extra lead time is intended to allow for better organization of workshops, hiring of professionals, material procurement, and the development of floats and costumes for the parades scheduled for January 29, 30, and 31, 2027, at the Passarela do Samba in Caminho Niemeyer.

Mayor Rodrigo Neves stated that the early release of resources is a step toward professionalizing the event and ensuring greater predictability for the schools as the festival continues to grow in scale.
