Niterói seeks new Petrobras contracts to boost naval industry
The city of Niterói is working to revitalize its naval and offshore industry through strategic partnerships and infrastructure improvements. In a meeting at Petrobras headquarters, Niterói Mayor Rodrigo Neves met with Petrobras President Magda Chambriard and other executives to discuss expanding the city's role in the oil, gas, and ship repair supply chains.
To support this recovery, the municipality has invested approximately R$ 162.5 million in the dredging of the São Lourenço Channel. This project has already increased the channel's depth from seven to 11 meters, allowing larger vessels to access the city's industrial and port areas. The city aims to leverage these improvements, along with professional qualification and innovation investments, to secure new contracts from Petrobras and Transpetro, ultimately driving job creation and economic growth in the region.
