Niterói's FLIN 2026 Literary Festival Draws 30,000 Visitors

The Festa Literária Internacional de Niterói (FLIN) will take place from 13 to 16 August 2026 at the Reserva Cultural in Niterói, Brazil. Organized by the city’s Fundação de Arte de Niterói with sponsorship from Águas de Niterói and support from the Federal University of Fluminense, the Brazilian Academy of Letters, the National Library and Ecovias, the free‑entry event expects around 30,000 attendees. Its theme, “Territórios das Palavras,” honors anthropologist and activist Lélia Gonzalez, focusing on concepts such as amefricanidade and pretuguês.

The four‑day program includes literature, music, theatre, audiovisual presentations and public debates, with accessibility features like Libras interpretation and audio description. High‑profile participants include actress Fernanda Montenegro, who will read Simone de Beauvoir, rapper Emicida, writer Conceição Evaristo, historian Lilia Schwarcz and many other national and international authors and artists.
