NITI Aayog Vice Chairperson visits Paradip Port

Dr. Ashok Kumar Lahiri, Vice Chairperson of NITI Aayog, conducted an official visit to Paradip Port in Odisha to review its maritime infrastructure, operational capabilities, and development roadmaps.

During the visit, Lahiri toured the harbour and observed vessel movements and cargo-handling facilities. He noted the port’s 16.5-metre draft and its role in supporting India’s maritime and logistics ecosystem. Describing modern infrastructure as “the modern Taj Mahals” that would serve as a legacy for the nation, Lahiri praised the port’s ongoing modernisation and expansion projects.

Paradip Port Authority officials briefed the Vice Chairperson on capacity augmentation, mechanised systems, and multimodal connectivity plans aimed at strengthening the port’s strategic importance on India’s east coast. The visit included officials from the Odisha Maritime Board and senior Paradip Port Authority leadership.
