Nitin Nabin reprimands three BJP MPs over visit to Sajjan Kumar's family
BJP National President Nitin Nabin has reprimanded three senior party leaders—Kamaljeet Sehrawat, Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, and Yogendra Chandolia—following their visit to the home of the late Sajjan Kumar.
Sajjan Kumar, a former Congress MP, passed away on August 20. He had been serving a life sentence after being convicted in connection with the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. The decision by the three BJP MPs to visit his family and attend his mourning period has drawn significant criticism, including from BJP leader HS Phulka, who argued that sympathy should instead be directed toward the victims of the 1984 violence.
While party spokesperson RP Singh stated the MPs attended in a personal capacity rather than as official party representatives, Nabin expressed dissatisfaction with the move. The incident has raised concerns regarding the party's image, particularly as political focus shifts toward upcoming assembly elections in regions like Punjab.
