Nitori Holdings implements AI conversational data analysis
Nitori Holdings, a major Japanese furniture and interior retailer, has successfully implemented an AI-driven conversational data analysis system to overcome internal technical barriers. By migrating its data infrastructure to Google Cloud and utilizing BigQuery, the company has consolidated vast amounts of data, including customer behavior and logistics information.
A significant challenge during implementation was the prevalence of internal company jargon that prevented AI from accurately interpreting data queries. To resolve this, the Information System Reform Office performed extensive manual work to bridge the gap between technical database terms and natural language. This allows employees without specialized SQL skills to perform complex analyses, such as requesting specific sales figures for particular store locations, through simple dialogue.
The initiative aims to move beyond merely knowing ‘what’ sold to understanding ‘why’ products are performing a certain way. This insight is intended to optimize inventory, reduce waste, and lower CO2 emissions through more efficient manufacturing and logistics.
