Nitro-Chem and BAE Systems to Build TNT Factory in the United Kingdom

Polish defence firm Nitro‑Chem, part of the Polish Group of Defence (PGZ), and British defence contractor BAE Systems have signed a Letter of Intent to create a joint‑venture that will construct a modern TNT factory on British soil. The agreement, signed in Kraśnik, outlines plans for the new plant to add roughly 2,000 tonnes of TNT production per year – supplementing Nitro‑Chem’s existing output of about 10,000 tonnes in Poland. It is the first PGZ investment outside Poland and will be co‑financed by the UK government under its UK Energetics programme.

The partnership aims to strengthen NATO’s supply chain for energetic materials, diversify production locations, and open new export opportunities for the Polish defence industry. PGZ President Adam Leszkiewicz highlighted the collaboration as a milestone for Polish‑British security ties, while Deputy Defence Minister Magdalena Sobkowiak‑Czarnecka underscored its strategic importance for both nations.
