NITV secures broadcasting rights for First Nations sporting events
National Indigenous Television (NITV) has secured broadcasting partnerships to provide extensive coverage of major First Nations sporting events in 2026.
For the Koori Knockout rugby league tournament, NITV will serve as the exclusive broadcast platform. The coverage will include live, free-to-air broadcasts of the finals from the King Park Sporting Complex in Raymond Terrace, NSW, on October 4-5, 2026. Additionally, a new Koori Knockout 24-Hour FAST Channel will launch on SBS On Demand, offering 24/7 access to the past decade of tournament matches and a dedicated documentary.
In netball, Netball Australia and NITV have partnered to broadcast every match of the 2026 First Nations Tournament. Fans can access pool rounds and playoff matches via SBS On Demand and YouTube starting September 16, with the medal matches scheduled to be broadcast live and free on NITV on September 20. The partnership aims to increase visibility for First Nations athletes and their communities.
