Nizar Baraka outlines development vision for Larache
Nizar Baraka, Secretary-General of the Istiqlal Party, outlined a development vision for the Larache region during recent communicative meetings. Baraka emphasized the region's potential for a qualitative leap through industrial and agricultural projects, specifically highlighting the agri-industrial pole which is moving into its second phase to create jobs and attract investment.
To address economic concerns, Baraka proposed a three-level strategy to combat rising prices: increasing wages, reducing income tax, and regulating profit margins in food and fuel sectors. He stressed that reducing intermediaries in the distribution chain is essential to ensuring fair prices for both farmers and consumers.
Regarding infrastructure and the 2030 World Cup, Baraka noted that Larache's selection as a host city presents opportunities to expand hotel capacity, improve urban transport, and upgrade sports facilities. Additionally, he discussed water security, noting that the Tangier desalination plant will help preserve dam water for Larache's agricultural lands. Social initiatives mentioned include improving rural road access, enhancing school transport to reduce dropout rates, and supporting economic empowerment for women and youth.
