NJ Transit workers recover passenger's flushed wedding ring
NJ Transit maintenance workers successfully recovered a gold wedding band that a passenger accidentally flushed down a train toilet on the North Jersey Coast Line.
Passenger Julie Angelicola reported that she inadvertently removed her ring while using tissues to wipe soap from her hands due to a lack of running water in the restroom. After realizing the ring was missing, she alerted train conductors and filed a lost and found report.
To prevent the ring from being lost in the system, NJ Transit employees identified the specific rail car and transported it to the Meadowlands Maintenance Complex. Because train car toilets empty into 50-gallon holding tanks, crews were able to retrieve the jewelry from the tank.
