NJPW adds NEVER Openweight title match to King of Pro Wrestling 2026

New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) has announced a new title match for its King of Pro Wrestling 2026 event, scheduled for October 12 at Ryogoku Sumo Hall in Tokyo. Kosei Fujita will challenge Aaron Wolf for the NEVER Openweight Championship.

Fujita earned the opportunity after defeating Wolf in a tag team match during the Road to Destruction tour. If successful, Fujita would become only the second junior heavyweight in history to win the title without moving to a heavier weight division, following Will Ospreay.

The event card also features a major championship bout involving Ryohei Oiwa, the 2026 G1 Climax winner, who is set to challenge for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship. The opponent for that match remains to be determined, pending the outcome of Yota Tsuji’s defense against Hirooki Goto.
