Kenny Omega makes surprise NJPW return to challenge Yota Tsuji

At the New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) “King of Pro-Wrestling” event on October 12, 2026, at Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Kenny Omega made a shocking in-ring return. Following Yota Tsuji’s successful IWGP Heavyweight Championship defense against G1 Climax winner Ryohei Oiwa, Omega appeared via video to criticize Tsuji for not participating in recent international cross-promotional events.

Omega subsequently made a live appearance in the ring, attacking both the champion Tsuji and Boltin Oleg. After laying out both competitors, Omega proposed a three-way match for the NJPW Power Struggle event on November 3 in Hiroshima. The stipulation of this non-title match would grant Omega a shot at the IWGP Heavyweight Championship at Wrestle Kingdom 21.

Other notable developments from the event included Jon Moxley issuing a video message signaling his return to NJPW following a match involving Shingo Takagi. Additionally, the NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Team Championship changed hands as the Knockout Bros (Yuto-Ice and OSKAR) and Jeff Cobb defeated the United Empire (Will Ospreay, HENARE, and Great-O-Khan).
