NK Osijek parts ways with sporting director Kenneth Zandvliet

NK Osijek has announced the mutual termination of its cooperation with sporting director Kenneth Zandvliet. The 52-year-old Dutchman, who joined the club in late May from SC Heerenveen, departs after only five months in the role.

The club stated it will continue following its established sporting direction, maintaining full confidence in head coach Federico Bessone and his coaching staff. While the specific reasons for the departure were not disclosed, the move comes during a period of inconsistent results for the club.

In addition to the leadership change, NK Osijek announced plans to develop its club structure by establishing a dedicated performance department. This new unit will focus on physical preparation, health, injury prevention, and player development, though the club clarified it will not replace the functions of the sporting director.

In related player news, striker Anton Matković has signed a contract extension with the club through the summer of 2028, with an option for an additional year. Matković is currently recovering from two significant cruciate ligament injuries and is expected to return to training soon.
