NM-AIST graduates 138 students to support Tanzania's Vision 2050

The Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST) held its 12th graduation ceremony in Tengeru, Arusha, conferring master’s and doctoral degrees upon 138 graduates.

During the ceremony, Chancellor Omari Issa and Council Chairperson Ambassador Maimuna Tarishi emphasized the necessity of investing in science, technology, and innovation to achieve Tanzania’s Development Vision 2050. Ambassador Tarishi stressed that research and innovation should move beyond academic papers and patent registrations to become practical products and services that address societal challenges in sectors such as agriculture, livestock, business, and the environment.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Maulilio Kipanyula reported that the institution has produced 219 scientific publications and secured seven patents. Additionally, 19 NM-AIST researchers received awards from the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology for their contributions to high-ranking international scientific journals.
