NMB Bank goat wins charity race to fund higher education

NMB Bank’s goat, ‘NMB the GOAT’, won the ‘NMB unGOATable Race’ held on September 19, 2026, defeating a competitor from Bowman. The goat races serve as a fundraising event aiming to collect Sh200 million to support higher education for 150 young people.

NMB participated for the first time as a major sponsor. Getrude Mallya, NMB’s Head of Special Customer Banking Services, stated that the bank is proud to support initiatives that create opportunities for Tanzanian youth through education.

Paul Muhato, President of the Rotary Club of Dar es Salaam Oysterbay, noted that the club has enabled 350 students to continue their studies since they began managing the races in 2018. This year’s goal is to expand that impact to an additional 150 students for the upcoming academic year.
