Lyon freezes parking fees as city centers keep rates unchanged

From 1 August, LPA Mobilités will freeze both hourly rates and subscription fees for 13 parking facilities in Lyon’s Presqu’île and central districts, following a decision by the Metropole de Lyon. The affected sites include Bourse, Hôtel de Ville, République, Perrache, Terreaux, Célestins, Antonin‑Poncet, Cordeliers, Saint‑Antoine, Grolée, Saint‑Jean, Saint‑Georges and Morand. The measure is intended to support accessibility and attractiveness of the city centre without any price increase for residents, visitors, employees or shoppers.

In the nearby city of Nîmes, the parking area serving the Seven Hills shopping centre will become partially paid on 1 September. While the first two hours will remain free, any stay beyond that will incur a charge, a change requested by local merchants to reduce vehicle congestion.

Additionally, Lyon will continue its policy of charging tourists and visitors for parking throughout August, a practice now in its second year, while local residents remain exempt.
