Nîmes hosts new initiatives to promote Gard gastronomy and Camargue traditions
New cultural and gastronomic initiatives have been launched in the Gard region of France to promote local heritage and craftsmanship.
The ‘Marché du Goût’ has officially opened in Nîmes. Organized by the Chambre de métiers et de l’artisanat (CMA) du Gard, the event serves as a showcase for local artisans and food producers. The initiative aims to connect producers directly with consumers and support the regional gastronomic economy through partnerships with the Gard Departmental Council and the Occitanie Region.
Additionally, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) of Gard has announced the creation of ‘Carmarga’, a dedicated salon celebrating Camargue traditions. Scheduled for June 11–13, 2027, at the Nîmes exhibition center, the event will focus on the region's cultural identity, including themes such as horses, bulls, gastronomy, and local craftsmanship. The salon aims to preserve and transmit Camargue's heritage to younger generations through immersive experiences.
