NMHH implements new mobile network testing on bicycle paths

The National Media and Infocommunications Authority (NMHH) has introduced a new measurement methodology and mobile testing system to evaluate broadband mobile service availability and quality on routes difficult to access by car, such as bicycle paths.

This development allows for objective data collection across Hungary’s approximately 4,000 kilometers of built bicycle networks, including areas in forests, river valleys, and sparsely populated outskirts. The initiative aims to provide service quality data for locations that were previously difficult to monitor using vehicle-based methods. The testing process is technology-neutral, focusing on broadband accessibility rather than specific technologies like 5G, and seeks to produce comparable results across all mobile service providers.
