NNEK acquires Index People to expand Dutch wealth management

Asset manager Index People is being acquired by Noordnederlands Effektenkantoor (NNEK), a move intended to create one of the largest independent wealth managers in the Netherlands. The companies cited scale advantages and the pooling of expertise, knowledge, and IT resources as primary drivers for the merger to better address industry challenges.

For existing Index People clients, the transition is designed to be seamless. Investment strategies, rates, and primary contact persons will remain unchanged, though client accounts will be transferred to NNEK’s administration and trading platform. While NNEK wealth management services are exclusively available through financial advisors, Index People will continue to serve clients directly.

Index People employees will become part of NNEK, and the current management will remain involved. Reinder Kuperus, the general manager of Index People, will continue to serve as an advisor after twenty years with the firm. Both the Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM) and De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB) have been informed of the decision.
