Nneka Ogwumike reaches 8,000 career points in Sparks victory

Nneka Ogwumike became the fourth player in WNBA history to reach 8,000 career points during the Los Angeles Sparks' 105-84 victory over the Portland Fire. Ogwumike recorded 20 points, 12 rebounds, and five assists in the win, reaching the milestone in the second quarter.

She joins Diana Taurasi, Tina Charles, and DeWanna Bonner as the only players to reach the 8,000-point mark. The game, which was Ogwumike's penultimate home game before retirement, also featured a ceremony for Los Angeles native and three-time WNBA MVP Lisa Leslie, including the unveiling of her statue outside Crypto.com Arena.

The Sparks' scoring was bolstered by Rae Burrell, who also tallied 20 points, and Ariel Atkins with 14. Portland's effort was led by Carla Leite, who scored 23 points.
