NNPC Ltd welcomes $800m investment for Ima Gas Project

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has announced an $800 million Final Investment Decision (FID) for the Ima Gas Project. Located offshore in OMLs 112 and 117, the project is being developed by AMNI International in partnership with TotalEnergies.

At peak production, the project is expected to yield approximately 300 million standard cubic feet of gas per day. This output is intended to supply essential feedgas to Nigeria LNG Limited to support the Train 7 expansion, which aims to increase the Bonny Island plant's capacity from 22 million to 30 million tons per annum.

The investment was facilitated by 2024 Presidential Directives designed to provide fiscal incentives for non-associated gas, streamline contracting, and reduce development costs. The Ima Gas Project marks the fourth major gas project to reach FID under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, following the Iseni, Ubeta, and HI projects.
