NNPC to deploy 70 self-service energy hubs across Nigeria

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has announced plans to deploy between 50 and 70 smart, self-service filling stations across Nigeria within the next six months. This initiative aims to transform traditional retail outlets into integrated energy and mobility hubs.

The company recently commissioned its first technology-driven station in Abuja on Bill Clinton Drive, developed in partnership with the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) and African Motor Works (AMW). The facility features 24-hour self-service capabilities, allowing motorists to independently dispense fuel and make digital payments via a mobile application.

Beyond conventional petrol and diesel, these smart stations will offer electric vehicle (EV) charging, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), compressed natural gas (CNG), and automated car wash services. The Abuja station is powered by a solar system with a capacity of over 200 kilowatt-hours. NNPC plans to establish several more such stations in Abuja and Kano as part of its modernization strategy for the downstream petroleum sector.
