NNPC Limited reports ₦7.2 trillion profit and seeks refinery partners

NNPC Limited has reported a significant increase in its financial performance for the 2025 fiscal year, with profit after tax rising 33% to ₦7.2 trillion. Despite a 24% decline in revenue to ₦34.5 trillion due to lower crude prices and market deregulation, the company declared a 35% increase in dividends, totaling ₦5.8 trillion.

Operational metrics showed strength, with crude oil and condensate production reaching a five-year high of 1.77 million barrels per day. Natural gas output also hit a three-year high. To ensure future sustainability, NNPC is pursuing a technical equity partnership model for its refineries, seeking experienced operators to take equity stakes. Chinese investors have reportedly shown strong interest in two refineries, with technical assessments currently underway.

Additionally, the company committed ₦11.2 trillion toward securing oil and gas infrastructure in 2025 to combat theft and vandalism. Regarding its proposed Initial Public Offering (IPO), NNPC stated that no fixed date has been set, as the timeline depends on shareholder decisions and readiness assessments by consultants.
