No Angels: New ARD documentary explores 25-year career

A new three-part ARD documentary series, ‘No Angels – Das sind wir!’, examines the 25-year history of Germany’s most successful girl group. The series traces their journey from winning the first season of the casting show ‘Popstars’ in 2001 to their various hiatuses and comebacks.

Through extensive archive footage and personal interviews, members Lucy Diakovska, Sandy Mölling, Nadja Benaissa, and Jessica Wahls discuss the intense pressures of early stardom. The documentary highlights the group’s role as pioneers of diversity in the German music industry and addresses the challenges they faced, including rigorous training, strict contracts, and personal crises.

Individual members share candid reflections: Nadja Benaissa discusses the difficulty of balancing motherhood with a sudden rise to fame, while Sandy Mölling speaks about her experiences living in the United States and the impact of American politics on her family. The series is available on the ARD Mediathek starting October 14, with a television broadcast scheduled for October 17.
