No Kings coalition announces nationwide voting rights day of action
The “No Kings” coalition has organized a nationwide day of action scheduled for October 17 to promote civic engagement and voting rights ahead of the November 3 general election.
In Tuscaloosa, Alabama, the event will feature a march and rally starting at Government Plaza. The route is designed to honor the civil rights history of “Bloody Tuesday,” traveling through the First African Baptist Church toward the Tuscaloosa County Courthouse. Organizers are encouraging eligible voters to utilize absentee voting options, noting that Alabama does not offer a general early-voting period.
In Massachusetts, a dozen cities and towns, including Boston, Brookline, Worcester, and Falmouth, will host coordinated events. The mobilization, supported by groups such as the ACLU of Massachusetts, Indivisible Mass Coalition, and Mass 50501, aims to assist citizens with early voting, absentee ballot requests, and voter registration checks.
