No Kings movement holds nationwide rallies ahead of midterms
The “No Kings” movement organized nationwide rallies on October 17 to protest government policies and advocate for democratic representation. Demonstrators gathered in various locations, including Plano, Texas, and Pullman, Washington, to voice opposition to the administration of President Trump and express concerns regarding authoritarianism.
In Plano, approximately 3,000 people participated in a peaceful rally at West Parker Road and Preston Road. Organizers from groups such as Indivisible Dallas, the Texas Organizing Project, and the League of Women Voters of Texas focused on voter mobilization, encouraging citizens to utilize early voting starting October 19.
In Pullman, around 200 people gathered at Cougar Plaza. Supported by the Intersectional Advocacy Coalition and local Democratic organizations, the event addressed issues including voter rights, food insecurity, and freedom of expression. Organizers emphasized the importance of engaging younger voters and students in the upcoming midterm elections.
