No Kings protests held nationwide to promote voter registration

Nationwide ‘No Kings’ demonstrations took place on October 17, 2026, with significant gatherings in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and Orlando, Florida. The rallies focused on encouraging civic engagement and voter registration ahead of the November midterm elections.

In Tuscaloosa, approximately 100 protesters gathered at Government Plaza. Organized by Indivisible West Alabama in partnership with groups such as the University of Alabama College Democrats, the event aimed to educate residents, particularly young people, on the importance of the political process. Protesters voiced criticisms of the Trump administration.

In Orlando, hundreds of participants assembled at City Hall. Organizers from groups including Orlando 50501 emphasized the importance of early voting to prevent interference. Beyond voting, the demonstration addressed local issues such as healthcare for LGBTQ+ individuals and the reinstatement of a Civilian Review Board for the Orlando Police Department.
