No Kings Coalition holds nationwide rallies to promote early voting
The No Kings Coalition organized a massive nationwide series of demonstrations on October 17 to promote early voting and election security ahead of the 2026 midterm elections. The initiative, which included nearly 3,000 events across all 50 U.S. states, marked a strategic shift from previous protest-focused actions toward direct civic engagement and voter turnout.
Local rallies were held in various locations, including Great Neck, New York; Sequim, Washington; Iowa City, Iowa; Port Townsend, Washington; Boone, North Carolina; and Warren, Ohio. Participants engaged in speeches, music, and community gatherings to encourage residents to create voting plans and utilize early voting options to avoid potential long lines or intimidation.
The movement is supported by a broad coalition of nonpartisan organizations, including Indivisible, the American Civil Liberties Union, and the League of Women Voters. During the rollout, the movement faced controversy when Meta temporarily suspended its main Instagram account, an action the company attributed to an automated security error.
