No Kings coalition launches nationwide early voting mobilization

The No Kings coalition, a network of hundreds of advocacy groups including the ACLU, is conducting a nationwide mobilization to encourage early voting ahead of the November 3 midterm elections. Unlike previous No Kings demonstrations that focused on protesting the policies of President Donald Trump, these more than 3,000 scheduled events aim to transform grassroots protest into electoral participation. Activities include marches to polling places, community celebrations, and training volunteers as poll watchers.

Nationwide, approximately 5.1 million ballots have been cast. In New Mexico, over 63,000 registered voters have already cast absentee or early ballots. The mobilization comes amid legal and administrative tensions regarding election integrity. The Trump administration has sued California officials to prevent the counting of mail-in ballots from individuals identified as likely noncitizens. Additionally, the Justice Department has warned local officials that processing ballots from suspected noncitizen voters could result in criminal investigations. However, federal officials previously stated in August that immigration agents would not be used for mass enforcement at polling locations during the midterms.
