The Grupo Finançor has announced the recipients of the Dionísio Raposo Leite Merit Scholarship for the 2026/2027 edition. In an exceptional move, the group awarded three scholarships instead of the usual two to recognize academic merit and socioeconomic needs. The recipients are Catarina Costa, studying Modern Languages at the University of Coimbra; Elvira Sousa, studying Biomedical Laboratory Sciences at the Lisbon School of Health; and Francisco Botelho, studying Informatics Engineering and Computing at the University of Porto.

The scholarship provides a monthly allowance of €500 to assist students from the Azores with the costs of studying on the mainland, such as housing and transport. The selection process evaluated 59 candidates based on academic performance, extracurricular involvement, and family socioeconomic status.

Separately, the Manuel Cargaleiro Foundation announced the winners of the Manuel Cargaleiro Prizes in Castelo Branco. From 267 applicants, Rafaela Monnerat Schenkel won in the Research category, Tomás Caleia Azul received the Revelation Prize, and Joana Paraíso won the main Cargaleiro Prize, which includes €5,000.
