Noah Adams, longtime NPR host, dies at 84

Noah Adams, a veteran writer, broadcaster, and storyteller who hosted NPR’s ‘All Things Considered’ for 18 years, has died at the age of 84. He passed away on Friday at his home in Yellow Springs, Ohio, according to his wife, Neenah Ellis.

Throughout his career, Adams reported on major historical milestones, including the fall of the Berlin Wall and the September 11 terrorist attacks. He was also highly regarded for his human-interest reporting, often traveling by train or visiting small towns to capture the essence of local characters and places through vivid, observational storytelling.

Adams began his radio career in 1972 at the University of Kentucky before joining NPR as a production assistant in the mid-1970s. Colleagues remembered him as an intense observer who used shorthand notes to translate complex surroundings into simple, rich language.
