Noah Lyles ends track season early due to injury

American sprinter Noah Lyles, the 2024 Paris Olympics 100-meter gold medalist, has announced he is ending his competitive season early due to injury. The decision comes just one week before the inaugural World Athletics Ultimate Championship in Budapest.

Lyles explained via social media that a muscle strain sustained during the U.S. outdoor championships in June led to subsequent complications that have hindered his ability to train effectively. While initial rehabilitation was progressing well, the injury caused other issues to flare up. Lyles stated his intention to focus on recovery to prepare for the 2027 World Championships in Beijing and the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.

Despite being unable to compete, Lyles plans to attend the Ultimate Championship in Budapest as a spectator to support fellow athletes.
