Noah Lyles triumphs 100m, Italy secures three wins at Rome Golden Gala
American sprint star Noah Lyles won the men's 100 m at the Golden Gala in Rome in 9.88 seconds, beating Cameroon’s Emmanuel Eseme (9.94) and Botswana’s Letsile Tebogo (9.95). Olympic champion Marcell Jacobs finished fifth in 9.99, marking his first sub‑10‑second run since August 2024.
Italian athletes claimed three Diamond League victories. Andy Diaz won the triple jump with 17.59 m, Leonardo Fabbri took the shot put title with a throw of 22.14 m, and Matteo Sioli cleared 2.28 m in the high jump. Other notable performances included world‑season bests by Emma Zapletalová (52.58 s for the women's 400 m hurdles) and Trey Cunningham (12.98 s for the men's 110 m hurdles). The meeting also featured a meeting record of 92.62 m in the men's javelin by Sri Lankan Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage.
