Noahkai Banks chooses Germany over U.S. for international soccer

Noahkai Banks, a 19-year-old defender for FC Augsburg, has chosen to represent Germany in his international soccer career instead of the United States. The German Football Federation confirmed the decision, noting that Banks, who was born in Hawaii to an American father and a German mother, has lived in Germany since infancy.

Banks previously represented the U.S. at the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup and participated in a USMNT training camp in September 2025. Germany U-21 coach Antonio Di Salvo stated that the federation had been in contact with Banks and dual-national forward Louey Ben Farhat for some time to outline their future pathways with the German national team.

While U.S. men’s national team coach Mauricio Pochettino had recently indicated he was awaiting Banks' decision, the player has committed to the German program. Banks is currently in his third season with FC Augsburg in the Bundesliga, having made 35 career appearances.
