WWE NXT launches 2026 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic
The 2026 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic officially commenced during the September 22 episode of WWE NXT. The tournament features 14 teams from various promotions, including NXT, Raw, SmackDown, EVOLVE, and AAA. Cody Rhodes announced he will personally present the Dusty Cup trophy to the winners at the tournament's conclusion.
In the opening round, Noam Dar and Romeo Moreno defeated Los Americanos to advance. The Creed Brothers also secured a victory against Harley Riggins and Jax Presley. The tournament field was impacted by an injury to Dorian Van Dux, who was sidelined with a punctured lung; he was replaced by EK Prosper in a six-man tag team match, which BirthRight won.
In the women’s division, Skylar Raye defeated Kali Armstrong following interference from Reina Volcan. Additionally, the team of Thea Hail and La Catalina defeated NXT Women’s Champion Kelani Jordan and Zaria, earning Hail a future match for the NXT Women’s North American Championship.
